A companion that knows when to stay quiet

Atlas is the learner's companion in Journey. Clear rules decide when it speaks; the AI only chooses the words. It knows the learner's own course, stays out of the way during checks and assessments, and never acts as an examiner.

Rules decide, the AI words it

Most AI companions talk whenever they can. Atlas speaks only when a written rule says there is something worth saying — a reason to continue, a reminder that revision is waiting, a nudge after a quiet spell — and then it says it in one calm line. The decision is code you can audit; the model only chooses the wording.

When the learner asks for help, Atlas answers from what it can see of their course: their lessons, their results in plain words, their Revision, and their next milestone. It does not invent material, and it does not give answers away.

What Atlas does

  • Orients. On Today, a short line on where to start and why — the learner's day in one sentence.
  • Reminds, quietly. When three or more revision items are waiting, or a milestone is open or next, one line and one link: Start now.
  • Helps on a ladder. From a gentle hint to a fuller explanation — the learner climbs only as far as they need.
  • Gets to know the learner. “Let Atlas know you better” lets learners say how they like to work, in their own words.

Where Atlas stays silent

  • While a check is open. The evidence has to be the learner's own, so the companion steps back.
  • Inside a milestone. Atlas is not present in graded work or in the spoken defense.
  • As an examiner. It never marks and never judges — a companion, not a policeman.

Every prompt is approved

Each prompt Atlas runs on is versioned and approved in a prompt registry, and every model is chosen by your IT Admin from an approved catalogue. Nothing about the companion is hard-coded or hidden.
