The Concept

The Ecosystem at a Glance

A map of the whole ecosystem before the deep topics — the four branded pillars, the supporting components, and what is deliberately later-stage. Maestro was designed not only as a learner platform but as a governed academic ecosystem.

The 30-second version

Maestro is built around four connected pillars: Studio engineers the curriculum, Journey delivers it to learners, Pulse watches the health of learning, and Compass governs and refines. Three supporting components — the AI Companion, the Recommendation Platform, and the Academic Support Marketplace — sit inside Journey. For release one, the build centres on Journey; Pulse and Compass are later stages.

The four pillars

Each pillar has a branded name and a plain functional name. This documentation leads with the branded name and gives the functional name in parentheses on first mention.

The loop

The pillars form a cycle, not a stack. Studio engineers a course → Journey delivers it and captures real learner evidence → Pulse turns that evidence into academic intelligence → Compass governs a refinement decision → back to Studio as a new authored version. "AI accelerates, humans govern" holds at every hand-off.

Supporting components

Three components live inside Maestro Journey and extend it beyond a single course:

The recommendation and marketplace depend on a strong academic library: when programs are broken into connected certificates, badges, mastery nodes, and prerequisites (the output of Studio), learners can enter through different doors and stack credentials toward a degree — and the system can recommend meaningfully. Basic course-level recommendation is a release-one goal; the fuller recommendation engine and marketplace mature in later phases.

What's later-stage

The vision is the full four-pillar ecosystem, but it is deliberately built in phases — a testable, iterative approach, not the whole future at once. For the first release the emphasis is Studio (already prototyped) and Journey (the build). Pulse and Compass — the Academic Intelligence and Refinement-loop parts — are recognised in the architecture but delivered as later stages.

What this means for the build

Release one delivers a foundation ecosystem MVP: curriculum engineering, the adaptive learning environment with the reflective Companion, embedded governance, and a foundational academic-intelligence layer (a basic learner pulse), plus basic course-level recommendation. The full analytics (Pulse) and continuous-refinement workflows (Compass) come in Phases B and C. The Timeline lays out the sequence; Scope draws the precise in/out line for the dev team.
